St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, Longhoughton, consecrated in the Saxon era. The remaining features of the original church are the Saxon chancel arch and the piers of the tower arch. The church was rebuilt in 1080 with a strong defensive tower (used for defence until the 17thC). The church was enlarged in the 12thC with the south aisle, restored in 1874. Previous vicars included George Duncan (1696 - 1730) who added revealing comments about his parishoners in the pages of the registers. During the 17thC and 18thC the church and vicarage were reputed to act as the distribution centre for smugglers from Boulmer. The church now serves as station church for RAF Boulmer.

A Visitors Book is available if you would like to make any comments or requests.
